Sir Ranulph Fiennes takes Cunningham Covers canvas tarps to Antarctica
Sir Ranulph Fiennes is leading a team of explorers to conquer the last great polar challenge: crossing Antarctica in winter – one of the most inhospitable places on Earth.
We were contacted by the expedition team to provide tarpaulins for use on top of the expedition shipping containers which have been modified to be used as science labs and living quarters. The team will be facing temperatures as low as -90c.
We recommended our special Cunningham Covers 16oz natural heavy duty cotton canvas. This material can withstand very low temperatures. We will be watching this adventure closely to see how the tarps perform at -90.
